Always an Adventure

This is a Great story...

Monday, was Labor Day and I decided it was going to be a "LABOR" day, at our house. I told the kids and Nels we were all going to work and get things done (didn't know I was that mean, huh?...make them work on their day off) We got a few things done here and there, made a bigger mess in the house, by finding and unpacking some boxes, Brogan and Carter dug up 155 goat head weeds, and by evening the weather was perfect for burning. We had a HUGE pile of weeds and branches that needed burning. Nels lit the pile and it went up in an instant. It was GIANT (for only about 5 min). The boys were so excited they could hardly handle it. What is it about fire and boys/men? Anyway, they ran outside to join the fun, Gracie was asking for "marsnellows", and Kelsey went out too, for a minute. She said " OHH, the fire department is showing up for this one", Carter was so excited about that..he said "REALLY, when?". I told him the fire department was NOT going to come, and flashed Kelsey the "don't say that", look. Kelsey and I went back into the house and a few minutes later we hear sirens coming from down the road. WHAT!! REALLY!! Is that for us? The boys came in saying, "Dad said to come in"...just about that time a firetruck pulled into our drive way- lights, sirens and all. I thought it was hilarious and was hoping Nels was thinking the same thing. Guess what we learned? You need a permit to burn and the fire Nels was burning was too big even if he had a permit. Who knew? The firemen were nice and Nels did not get a ticket. He did have to put the fire out, though. They told Nels that three other trucks were also on there way, because of all the calls they recieved. People were claiming structures were on fire. It made our night. Atleast, I know what I have to do to get firemen here? :) (kidding!!)

If our neigbors were unaware that the "Moores" were back....they know now. "The Moore's are back in town" (sang to the tune of "the boys are back in town")
